RV ownership transfers in Temecula follow California rules. The City of Temecula does not create a separate motorhome or travel trailer title-transfer system.
The required documents can depend on the RV's classification, title history, recorded owners, lender interests, and the transaction.
Title Assignment and Owner Signatures
For an ordinary California-titled RV, the seller generally needs to provide a properly assigned certificate of title and any required ownership or lienholder releases.
If multiple people are listed as registered owners, the connection between their names matters.
California DMV generally requires each owner's signature when names are joined by "and" or a slash. Names joined by "or" or "and/or" generally allow one owner's signature for an ordinary ownership release. Special designations, trusts, estates, or other circumstances may require different procedures.
Check the vehicle identification number, registered owner names, and title information before completing the paperwork.

Motorhome Odometer Disclosure
A motorhome may require mileage disclosure when ownership changes.
California generally follows the federal 20-model-year disclosure framework for qualifying motor vehicles from model year 2011 onward. Vehicles from model year 2010 and earlier follow the older exemption framework.
Other exemptions may apply, including for vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating over 16,000 pounds. Because travel trailers and fifth wheels are not self-propelled, they generally fall outside the federal motor-vehicle odometer disclosure requirement.
Do not assume that every motorhome becomes exempt after ten years.

Travel Trailers, Fifth Wheels, and PTI Records
California's Permanent Trailer Identification program applies to qualifying trailers, but not every recreational trailer belongs to that program.
Under California DMV definitions, qualifying camp trailers generally cannot exceed 16 feet in overall length measured from the foremost hitch point to the rear of the trailer body and 96 inches in width. Larger travel trailers and fifth-wheel travel trailers generally fall under trailer-coach classification and are excluded from PTI.
For certain PTI trailers that were never issued a paper title, Form REG 4017 Side B may be appropriate for an ownership transfer. A lost paper title, electronic lien, or different ownership record can require another procedure.
Check the actual records and trailer classification rather than assuming all towable RVs use the same transfer documents.

Missing Titles and Outstanding Loans
California DMV provides Form REG 227 for certain lost, stolen, or damaged California titles. However, that form cannot substitute for every missing ownership document.
For example, a registration marked nontransferable because no California title was issued may require records from another state. A PTI trailer that never had a paper title may use a different process.
If the RV has an outstanding loan, disclose the recorded lender and determine what lien release or other documentation will be needed.
EasyRVBuyer has not established a guaranteed lender-payoff or no-title purchasing service for private owners. These situations must be reviewed individually.

Seller Notice, Registration, Plates, and Smog Check
California generally requires a seller to submit the Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability, REG 138, within five calendar days of a sale or transfer.
Keep a copy or confirmation for your records. Filing the notice does not itself complete the buyer's ownership transfer.
Ordinary California license plates generally remain with the vehicle, while personalized and certain special-interest plates have different procedures.
If you are selling a motorhome, check whether Smog Check applies to the particular vehicle and transaction. Requirements and exemptions vary with factors such as fuel type, model year, vehicle weight, and transaction type. Towable travel trailers and fifth wheels do not require motor-vehicle exhaust-emissions testing merely because they are RVs.
Also disclose expired registration or planned nonoperation status when it may affect how the vehicle can legally be moved.
