Sell Your RV in Arkansas

EasyRVBuyer accepts inquiries from private Arkansas owners interested in selling a motorhome, travel trailer, or fifth wheel. You can submit information about an RV in good condition, one that has been sitting unused, or a unit with mechanical problems or damage.

Start with the RV's year, make, model, condition, and current location. Older, damaged, and non-running RVs may be evaluated individually. Whether an offer is possible depends on the vehicle, its ownership documents, and the circumstances of the transaction.

Private-owner program

Selling a Privately Owned RV in Arkansas

EasyRVBuyer's private-owner program is intended for individuals selling RVs they personally own. You do not need to represent a dealership or have several vehicles to contact the company.

Arkansas owners can inquire about RVs kept at home, on rural property, in storage facilities, or at campgrounds. The RV's current condition, legal ownership, and accessibility help determine what information is needed for an evaluation.

A motorhome that drives normally presents different considerations from one that cannot start. The same is true of a travel trailer with working brakes and tires compared with one that has not moved for years.

If the RV is financed, has missing documents, or is difficult to reach, explain that early. Those details can affect the possibility and terms of a transaction.

Submitting an inquiry does not guarantee that every RV can be purchased, inspected, or transported. Learn about the nationwide program through the EasyRVBuyer Locations directory.

RV categories

What Types of RVs Does EasyRVBuyer Consider?

The program focuses on motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels. Each vehicle is reviewed according to its individual characteristics.

Self-propelled

Motorhomes

Motorhomes combine living accommodations and mechanical systems. Mileage, maintenance history, engine and transmission condition, brakes, tires, and overall drivability may matter.

Explain whether it starts, runs under its own power, and can safely be driven. These are separate questions: working engines do not make damaged tires, brakes, or steering systems safe. Mention major repairs, warning lights, inactivity, and known water or structural damage.

Towable

Travel Trailers

Useful condition details include roof integrity, water intrusion, flooring, the frame, appliances, slide-outs, tires, brakes, and hitch assembly.

If the trailer has remained parked for several seasons, explain whether it has moved or its running gear has been inspected recently. A clean interior does not establish that a trailer is safe to tow.

Fifth-wheel towing

Fifth Wheels

Its pin box, landing gear, frame, suspension, tires, and slide-out systems may influence condition and transportation planning.

Describe structural concerns, damaged towing components, or difficulty connecting to a suitable towing vehicle. Include details about narrow storage areas or locked gates. No particular age, subtype, or condition is guaranteed acceptance.

Condition and selling situations

Can You Inquire About a Damaged or Non-Running RV?

Yes. You can request an evaluation for an older RV or one with known mechanical, cosmetic, water-related, or structural problems.

Conditions Worth Disclosing

  • Engine, transmission, electrical, or other mechanical failures
  • Roof leaks, soft flooring, damaged walls, or deteriorated seals
  • Hail damage, collision damage, or documented flooding
  • Broken slide-outs or malfunctioning equipment
  • Damaged tires, brakes, axles, or towing connections
  • Long-term storage or a motorhome that no longer runs

Why Honest Details Matter

A damaged RV is not automatically eligible for purchase. Extensive structural problems, missing ownership documents, unusual title branding, or complicated transport can affect the available options.

Accurate descriptions are more useful than omitting defects. If your RV has a salvage, rebuilt, or parts-only title, provide its recorded status rather than assuming it qualifies or is disqualified.

Getting started

How to Request an RV Evaluation

1

Share the Basic Information

Use the existing inquiry page or call 855-227-4227. Provide the year, make, model, Arkansas city or general location, condition, and known problems. Identify yourself as a private RV owner in the online message.

2

Have Current Photographs Available

Exterior and interior views, motorhome mileage, and pictures of visible defects may help. The public Contact form has no verified photo-upload feature. Ask how to share photos through an appropriate channel. Do not climb on an unsafe roof or move damaged equipment for a picture.

3

Discuss the Evaluation

Information can be reviewed to determine whether the RV may qualify for an offer. Additional photographs, documents, or an inspection may be needed. An online inquiry is not a binding purchase agreement, and an offer is not guaranteed.

4

Confirm the Transaction Terms

If a proposal is available, confirm its amount and conditions, payment method and timing, inspection, title handling, transportation responsibilities, and possible charges before signing documents or releasing the RV. Outstanding financing and ownership questions must be resolved appropriately.

Seller checklist

What Information Should You Prepare?

A short, accurate description is enough to begin. You do not need to prepare a complete sales advertisement.

RV Identification

  • Type, year, make, model, and approximate length
  • Mileage and running condition for a motorhome
  • Major repairs, known defects, and working systems
  • Current city or general Arkansas location

Condition and Photos

  • Exterior and interior views
  • Visible roof, wall, floor, frame, or body damage
  • Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or water problems
  • Available repair records and actual storm or flood history

Ownership and Access

  • Title availability and any additional listed owners
  • Outstanding loans or recorded liens
  • Whether the RV can be driven or towed safely
  • Gates, narrow roads, steep grades, low branches, or soft ground

Protect your information: If you have not inspected a system, say so rather than guessing. For an initial inquiry, do not send identification, Social Security numbers, banking details, or full loan-account information through an unverified document-sharing method.

Value and selling options

What Can Influence an RV's Selling Price?

An RV's age and model are only part of its potential value. Two otherwise similar units can have different selling prospects because of condition, equipment, maintenance, and repair needs.

For motorhomes, mileage and mechanical functionality may be especially relevant. For trailers and fifth wheels, roof integrity, water or structural damage, and towing readiness can matter. Appliances, heating and cooling, electrical equipment, plumbing, generators, and slide-outs contribute to the overall picture.

A prospective buyer may consider market demand, anticipated repairs, ownership complications, and transport requirements. These are general industry considerations, not a proprietary EasyRVBuyer valuation formula. Compare proposed net proceeds after any agreed costs or deductions, rather than relying on an asking price or guide estimate.

Direct RV Buyer, Private Sale, Consignment, or Trade-In?

Direct RV Buyer

May reduce the work of advertising and arranging viewings. The buyer may account for repairs, acquisition costs, transportation, and resale risk, so a direct offer is not necessarily the highest possible resale price. Review the actual terms.

Private Listing

You control the asking price and negotiations, but generally must prepare photographs, answer inquiries, arrange showings, and complete paperwork. A higher advertised price does not guarantee a completed sale.

Consignment

A consignment business may market and show the RV. Check commission, storage charges, repair approvals, insurance responsibilities, contract length, and expected net proceeds.

Trade-In or Keep the RV

When buying another RV, compare the trade allowance with the replacement price and all charges. Keeping or repairing the RV can also be reasonable if costs are manageable and you intend to use it.

Want a direct-sale option to compare? You can ask about an individual RV evaluation without assuming an offer is guaranteed.

Discuss Your RV

Arkansas title and ownership requirements

Arkansas RV Title and Ownership Requirements

The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), through its Office of Motor Vehicle, administers vehicle titles, registration, and recorded liens. Before selling, identify the documents that apply to your RV and whether another owner or lender has an interest in it.

Important distinction: Motorhomes and towable RVs are not identical for every registration and disclosure requirement. Arkansas permanent trailer licensing provisions do not establish a blanket title exemption for small trailers. Check your particular RV's classification and documents.

Completing the Arkansas Title Assignment

When a certificate of title is required, Arkansas law generally requires the owner to endorse its assignment and deliver the certificate to the purchaser, subject to statutory exceptions. DFA instructs sellers to print the purchaser's name and complete the required signatures and printed names correctly.

Check the title for incorrect ownership information, missing signatures, recorded liens, or incomplete assignments. For joint ownership, confirm the signatures required for the transaction. Do not assume every special document has the same notarization requirement. See Arkansas Code § 27-14-902 and DFA's title-assignment guidance.

Travel Trailer and Fifth-Wheel Titles

Arkansas generally includes trailers operated on public highways in its title and registration framework, subject to exceptions. Permanent trailer licensing for certain trailer categories is not the same as a universal exemption from certificates of title.

Do not assume a trailer is title-exempt merely because it is small or lightweight. For unusually classified trailers or out-of-state paperwork, verify the required records through DFA's title and registration guidance and the applicable law, including Arkansas Code § 27-14-703.

What If the Title Is Missing?

When a required Arkansas title has been lost, stolen, or damaged, the last titled owner or owners of record may apply for a duplicate. DFA's replacement-title instructions distinguish joint owners' names connected by "and" from those connected by "or". For this specific duplicate-title application, "and" requires both owners to sign, while "or" permits either owner to sign.

That rule does not automatically resolve every jointly owned sale or estate matter. DFA lists a $10 replacement fee and advises allowing at least three weeks for ordinary processing. An active or unreleased lien can alter the requirements. A handwritten bill of sale does not automatically substitute for a required title, so resolve a missing title before releasing the RV.

Selling an RV With an Outstanding Loan

An outstanding loan does not automatically prevent an inquiry, but the lender's interest must be addressed before ownership can transfer free of that lien. Ask the lender how settlement and title release work. DFA supplies an Official Release of Lien or Permission to Issue Replacement Title form for applicable situations.

If you owe more than a prospective buyer offers, the difference must still be resolved. Do not assume EasyRVBuyer automatically pays off loans or guarantees a settlement method.

Motorhome Odometer Rules Versus Towable RVs

Motorhomes are self-propelled and may require odometer disclosure. Under 49 CFR § 580.17, federal exemptions include non-self-propelled vehicles, those with a gross vehicle weight rating above 16,000 pounds, and qualifying older vehicles.

Model year 2010 and older vehicles generally use the earlier 10-year exemption framework, while model year 2011 and newer vehicles generally use a 20-year framework. Ordinary travel trailers and fifth wheels are not self-propelled and fall within the federal exemption, though separate Arkansas ownership documentation can still apply.

Inherited RVs, Multiple Owners, and Branded Titles

An inherited RV or one held by multiple owners may require estate documents, additional signatures, lien releases, or proof of a trustee's authority. DFA provides special ownership-document guidance and motor vehicle forms.

Disclose salvage, rebuilt, prior-salvage, or other recorded damage brands. Covered out-of-state branded vehicles being titled in Arkansas may require VIN verification, but not every out-of-state RV undergoes that same process. A title brand does not establish that EasyRVBuyer will purchase the RV or that it can immediately return to road use.

Different Purchaser Registration Deadlines

DFA generally gives purchasers 60 calendar days for motor vehicles and 30 calendar days for trailers after a qualifying transfer or lien release to apply for title and registration. These are primarily buyer-side deadlines, not universal seller filing obligations. Special circumstances and non-use exceptions can matter. Refer to the DFA registration instructions.

This section is general information, not individualized advice about title transfers, liens, estates, tax law, or registration. When a special circumstance applies, confirm the requirements with the relevant Arkansas agency or a qualified professional.

After the transaction

What to Do After Selling an RV in Arkansas

Signing the title is important, but the seller may also need to address license plates, transfer records, and personal property assessment.

Remove the Arkansas License Plates

Under Arkansas Code § 27-14-902, the registration of a registered vehicle expires upon the covered ownership transfer and the transferring owner or lessee must remove the plates. Separate requirements govern eligible plate reassignment to another vehicle.

Do not leave your registration plate on the sold RV as though it belongs to the purchaser. Arrange the buyer's lawful movement, registration, permits, or transportation separately. Keep a record of the vehicle identification number, sale date, purchaser, and documents exchanged.

Arkansas Notice of Transfer of Ownership

Under Arkansas Code § 27-14-916, a registered motor-vehicle owner may notify the Office of Motor Vehicle after the motor vehicle and possession have been transferred. DFA provides a Notice of Transfer of Ownership of a Motor Vehicle form.

The notice records identifying information, the transfer date, and the parties. It is optional under the cited provision and does not replace a valid title assignment or guarantee immunity from every future claim. The provision specifically addresses motor vehicles, so do not assume an identical notice process applies to every towable trailer. Retain appropriate sale records whether or not you submit the notice.

Notify the County Assessor When Appropriate

Arkansas treats motorhomes, travel trailers, and other RVs as assessable personal property. Its normal annual assessment period runs from January 1 through May 31.

Arkansas disposal provision: For qualifying taxable tangible personal property disposed of between January 1 and May 31, Arkansas Code § 26-26-1408(a)(4) provides for removal from that year's assessment rolls if already assessed, or for the property not to be deemed assessable for that year if not yet assessed, subject to the statute's conditions. The owner must notify the county assessor before removal and supply proof of disposal if requested.

Transferring an RV's title does not automatically update a county assessment record. Contact the county assessor where it is assessed and keep proof of sale. For sales outside the January-May period, ask how disposal should be reported and what effect it has. These rules do not guarantee a refund of taxes previously paid.

See the DFA personal property guidance for assessment context.

Possible Tax Credit When Replacing a Vehicle

Arkansas has a conditional sales and use tax credit for qualifying transactions where an eligible used motor vehicle or trailer is sold within 60 days before or after the purchase of a qualifying replacement vehicle. Eligibility and proof depend on the transaction. DFA's Bill of Sale for a replacement-vehicle tax credit calls for identifying information and the buyer's and seller's signatures.

Do not assume every RV sale qualifies for the credit. Check the current DFA requirements before including a possible credit in financial calculations.

Actual condition matters

Arkansas Weather and RV Condition Considerations

An RV's storage and use history matter more than its ZIP code. Arkansas experiences heat, storms, hail, heavy rainfall, and winter freezes, but those conditions do not mean every RV has been damaged.

Heat and Outdoor Storage

For RVs stored outdoors over long periods, consider the actual condition of roof seals, exterior materials, tires, batteries, and cooling equipment. Report a failing air conditioner or deteriorated seal if known. Covered or regularly maintained RVs can have different histories.

Winter Storage and Freezing

Arkansas can have freezing temperatures and winter storms. For affected seasonal-storage RVs, check accessible water tanks, plumbing connections, batteries, and visible leaks. Mention winterization and known freeze damage. The NWS Little Rock guidance describes regional winter-weather hazards.

Location and access

RV Location and Transportation Across Arkansas

Moving a large RV can depend more on its actual storage location than on the distance to an interstate. A motorhome may be near a highway but behind a narrow gate, while a fifth wheel may have unusable tires or landing gear. Share its dimensions, mobility, and property access before discussing transport arrangements.

Northwest Arkansas and the Ozarks

I-49 provides important regional access, but smaller roads may involve steep grades, gravel, or limited turning space. The National Park Service identifies Buffalo National River campgrounds where RVs and pull-behind campers are not permitted because of site and road conditions. These are specific park restrictions, not a blanket prohibition on Ozark roads.

Central Arkansas and the River Valley

I-30 and I-40 are important corridors, but a residential driveway near Little Rock differs from a restricted storage facility or narrow rural approach. Mention gates, parking limitations, low branches, soft ground, and mechanical issues affecting movement.

Ouachita Mountains and Western Arkansas

Steep and winding approaches can make length, clearance, towing equipment, and maneuvering room relevant. For a disabled motorhome, explain whether it can roll and steer. An engine problem does not establish that ordinary towing is suitable.

Eastern and Southern Arkansas

Flatter terrain does not rule out access problems. Poor drainage, soft ground, a narrow gate, or inadequate turning space can complicate the movement of a trailer or motorhome. Describe the actual property's conditions.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation's statewide highway map provides regional road context; it does not establish EasyRVBuyer pickup routes or schedules.

Before accepting a proposal: Confirm who would arrange transportation, whether special equipment is needed, and who would pay for it. No pickup, towing, or transport arrangement is guaranteed.

Owner questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Selling an RV in Arkansas

Can I request an evaluation for a non-running motorhome?

Yes. Describe the mechanical problem, storage location, and whether the motorhome rolls and steers. Special transportation may be necessary, but a purchase or transport service is not guaranteed.

Do I need to repair my RV before requesting an evaluation?

You can begin by describing its existing condition. Compare possible repair costs with any improvement in the potential selling price before spending money. Repairs are not required just to ask about an evaluation; final transaction requirements depend on the buyer and RV.

What if an Arkansas RV title is in two names?

Required signatures depend on the ownership record and transaction. For DFA duplicate-title applications, names connected by "and" require both owners to sign, while "or" permits either. That is not a universal rule for every joint sale or estate matter.

Must I remove my license plate when selling the RV?

Under Arkansas Code § 27-14-902, a transferring owner or lessee must remove the plates from a registered vehicle. Arrange the buyer's legal registration, permits, or transportation separately and retain sale records.

Is an Arkansas notice of transfer required?

The notice under Arkansas Code § 27-14-916 is optional for a qualifying sale or transfer of a registered motor vehicle. It records the transaction but does not replace correctly completed title documents.

Should I contact my county assessor after selling the RV?

Yes, especially when the sale affects your personal property assessment. The January-May disposal provision requires owner notification before qualifying property is removed from the assessment rolls, with proof supplied if requested. Ask your assessor how to report other sales.

What if my loan balance is higher than a buyer's offer?

The unpaid balance does not disappear. Contact the lender about an acceptable settlement and release of its lien. Do not assume EasyRVBuyer has an automatic payoff service for private owners.

Can I inquire about an RV on difficult-to-access property?

Yes. Describe steep or narrow roads, soft ground, gates, RV dimensions, and mobility problems. These details help assess whether an evaluation or movement might be feasible. No pickup arrangement is guaranteed.
